Community Grants ProgramThe Dow Louisiana Operations Community Grant program is an annual program that funds sustainable community service projects in local plant communities in Assumption, Iberville and West Baton Rouge parishes. The competitive grant program is designed to address specific community needs, solve problems, or improve the quality of life for residents in Dow’s local plant communities. To qualify, organizations must have a 501 (c)(3) non-profit tax designation, be a municipal and/or parish government agency, or other organization that meets the criteria. Only one application per organization may be submitted. A maximum of $5,000 is awarded per project; however, projects may also be submitted for less than $5,000. Short-term projects that impact a large number of people and emphasize visible improvements will be most competitive in the selection process. Projects should emphasize relationship building with the community through interaction rather than just providing funds to an organization in exchange for promotional opportunities. Project examples include home construction or repair projects for the disadvantaged; restoring wildlife or recreation areas; sponsoring a park or waterway cleanup effort; supporting community health projects; and expanding educational and workforce development programs for local students.
Grants cannot be given to religious organizations, political candidates, individuals, or used for salaries, personal computers or travel expenses. Incomplete applications will be disqualified. Community projects submitted must have a Dow employee or retiree as the sponsor for the non-profit organization that receives the community grant. Proposals should be submitted on the Dow Community Grant Application form with a copy of the letter designating the organization as a 501(c)(3) attached. Electronic version of the grant application is also available. Each June the grant program is announced, and applicants have until mid-July to submit applications. A Grants Review Committee composed of Dow employees, retirees, local officials, and Community Advisory Panel members review the proposals and fund those that meet the criteria.
